We Still Have Tons to Learn

My anniversary was great and refreshing!  I was really edified by Art Azurdia regarding his talk on marriage.  His thoughts were extremely insightful.  Whether you are a believer in Christ or not, this talk can help in just seeing your marriage for what it really is.

Specifically insightful to me was Art tearing down the idea of the "perfect marriage"

The fact that there's a plethora of Christian conferences, books, talks, etc. is NOT a sign of our triumph in marriage but a sign of our disease.  Our marriages have paralleled the secular world.

Martial pre-counseling is a joke, it's like counseling the mentally insane.

Please listen and enjoy the possible changes to make your marriage richer!

Ring In the Summer

I was finally able to put my little idea into textile form :)  It's a fun little flower ring, that screams summer time!

Picnic freshness.

Pouch Lover

I have this fascination with pouches, which got me thinking of an idea of bringing back the fanny pack, but in a cool, retro, 80's way. I saw a couple of fanny packs that were cool, but this belt-pouch definitely steals the pie! This is what I was thinking but not exactly, this belt is better than what I was conjured up in my head. So, to my hubby, I really like this ;)

Doll Shoes

When I first found out I was having a little girl, I was so excited and wanted immediately to make her something. I didn't have a sewing machine (except for a little cheap sewing machine, that I had a hard time figuring out) at the time, so it needed to be more of a free hand thing. I got a pattern from craft-queen, Martha Stewart, got all the tools I needed, and began cutting, ironing, and fusing. After setting everything up, I lost track of my project with all of the hustle and bustle of getting ready to live out of state (DC) for a while. Once in DC, I found myself very tired of carrying Key in my HUGE belly. Once I started getting some bursts of energy, I bought my sewing machine and brought out my long lost project. I finished the little shoes but thought they looked way too doll like :( I hated them and wanted to make more modern looking shoes for my soon-to-be little girl. These were a total devastation, considering how long they took to make and anticipation of waiting to see the finished project. So, I went back to the drawing board and tried altering here and there (I'll show the other shoes in another post).
Perhaps one of her dolls can fit these.

Mums Day Dress

Key's Mum's Day Dress sprouted in my head based on a skirt I have. The bottom half of the dress I tried replicating. There was one annoying mess up but I didn't have the time or patience to go back in fix--so it just had to do. This dress can also grow with her for a while, I just have to un-seam the skirt from the top and lower the skirt. Hopefully, for that, I will have the time and the patience! I would love to make her a Daddy's Day dress, but I'm just not feeling 100% yet. Maybe next year :)

I made and added a little fun flower brooch.

How Important Should Saturday Be In Light of Sunday Gathering

Our minds can be easily fascinated with countless other things, and many times nothing about God, and his unfathomable work through his Son. Sunday's can be treated like any other day of the week...but should it be? It's not every day we get to physically gather with our brothers and sisters in Christ, be fed God's Word together, encourage one another, and rest in Christ together. So yes, Sunday's are special, because of all those things mentioned, and because we are reminded that we have a Savior that is living, and who rose on the 3rd day to reveal to the world, that his blood sacrifice was acceptable to his HOLY father.

As I think of encouraging words for my brothers and sisters, I am thankful for Saturday's, and the opportunity it gives me, to muster up kind-encouraging words for my family, and other awesome thoughts of God and his Son Jesus Christ!

Summertime Freshness

I made this dress with very light material. I actually didn't realize how light it was, until I was having some trouble putting it together. After some hassle, it turned out to be a fun dress to be out in the sun with. My little Key looked fresh and wonderful!

The bow in the back, made it especially fun...I guess bows are just fun!

A Little Scared...

I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled today, and I'm a bit nervous! Actually... a lot nervous :( Many who have done this either feel the pain, or think I'm silly, either way, if y'all can pray for me. Thanks!

P.S GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Masquerade Ball

For my daughters birthday, I decided to do a masquerade ball, and supply the masks to promote the spirit. My Key wore a pink tutu, lacy leggings, and a onesie with her hand print on it. I got the idea from an issue of Parents magazine, about a year ago or so. So, if anyone is getting ready to through a party, and want something personal, and even something to save as a memento, this might do the trick.

Our City

Today was unexpectedly used by God...

We all went to the park to exercise, and before leaving a lady was shouting in Spanish if anyone wanted free bread. Out of curiosity I headed over there. She told me she gets tons of bread through her church. I told her I was also part of a local church too. She wanted my information because she'd like to give us her excess breads so we can give out to the homeless community or use it as a church. She gave me a huge bag with about 15 various breads. PJ, the kids, and I headed to a bridge where there are a handful of homeless people. We tried to get them to come out to us from their squatter homes, but it seemed like no one was there. Before heading back home, we saw a man sleeping near the bridge, I asked him if he wanted some bread and he kindly said yes! We began talking to him and he said he'd just gotten a job down the street and would love to treat us at his restaurant. Before leaving we'd asked him if he needed anything and he said he needed a room to rent for $400-$450 and if we can help him look for a place. We were excited and said we'd meet up with him tomorrow. I started looking on Craigslist for a place and a few have poped up. Lord willing we can help get him into a place. We'll hopefully be seeing him tomorrow but we decided we don't want him to treat us but we just want to continue building a relationship with him. God is working in our hearts and using CrossView to reach our city people, little, by little.
