Homemade Salsa Tonight

Tonight we are having a group of friends over and we will EAT!
I made homemade salsa for this special occasion.  My beloved mother's recipe.
Used my mini processor that I scored from a thrift store in Arizona (thanks Heather for snatching this!)
Yay!  Excited to host tonight since we will eat like pigs :)

Beloved Mother's Salsa:
6 jalapenos (the more the hotter)
6 tomatillos (before boiling take off outter wrapper)
garlic salt
reserve water you boiled stuff in
Cilantro (if desired)

Boil jalapenos and tomatillos.  Once jalapenos change color turn off. Cut stems off jalapenos.  Put them in blender or processor.  (Might be too much to put in processor, I had to do it in two batches).  When transferring tomatillos use a spoon and fork because skin will come off and it will open up and disintegrate!  Add garlic to start, (you will continue adding more as you taste to your liking).  Add Cilantro if desired.  Blend and add the reserved water to dilute.  Add water and garlic salt to your liking. Then enjoy with some chips or Mexican food!

Please have a seat...

I've had these dirty chairs I inherited from my mother, but I never could find fabric of my liking, and I also just stopped looking.  After moving I was forced to do something with them, since I was getting rid of a lot of stuff, and tossing them did cross my mind.  I'm glad I didn't because now they look a lot better!
I took a look at IKEA's textile selection and they were impressive with a great price.  Even now I'm not sure if I got the one I really wanted, but it doesn't matter now-- they look cute and comfy.

BIGGEST treasure Book

(I wanna share some blessing but I'll wait for later this week.)

SO, I have an old book that is all torn up but I treasure it dearly.  That old torn book, really changed my life after high school.  It's my old, beat up, off the binding, first Bible and it has just been sitting on our shelf for years, so I wondered "What can I do with my book that speaks about my BIGGEST treasure?"  I began with one idea, and then it formed into something different. Either way I was just excited to experiment and make my Bible into something that I could have for a longer time!
My end product a flower brooch!

Book Brooch
-Gather lots of pages and Cut circles (I did 4-5 different shapes)
-poke hole to each layer bundle (might have to subtract some sheets or add)
-Gather together (with largest on bottom) and insert "paper fastener"
-Use glue gun to randomly glue together pages, this helps make it more sturdy
-Also use gun to glue "finding" to backside
-Cut out several pages to makes leaves
-Fold pages horizontally (in a tri fold)
-Draw a leaf and cut
-Once you've attained desired leaf length, glue near back pages but enough to hide leaf origin
-To add a little more character, accent leaves, I outlined the leaves with a black marker

when our home is invaded with black birds!  Well, not like birds from Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds," but cute paper birds on a wire.
Halloween makes our family giggle.

Happy Friday Y'all!!!

Thrifty Finds-Craigslist

Wanted a bench near our door so people can kick off their shoes and store them right underneath.  I originally wanted to go to a local school and ask if they're selling, or giving away any benches (doesn't hurt to ask) but never got around to it.  SO of course restored to good'ol Criagslist and got me a deal!  $10 for a good lookin', long, narrow bench.

Kicking off my shoes and storing right under.

Tea Anyone?

I was waiting for the rainy, cold days to come, so I can warm up with some of my favorite tea and relax.  When all kids are napping, it's like the perfect storm :)
(Trader Joe's Pomegranate tea is very good!)
