Please have a seat...

I've had these dirty chairs I inherited from my mother, but I never could find fabric of my liking, and I also just stopped looking.  After moving I was forced to do something with them, since I was getting rid of a lot of stuff, and tossing them did cross my mind.  I'm glad I didn't because now they look a lot better!
I took a look at IKEA's textile selection and they were impressive with a great price.  Even now I'm not sure if I got the one I really wanted, but it doesn't matter now-- they look cute and comfy.

Book Pages

Everywhere!  I am currently in love with book pages.  If you are too, grab your books and tear off the crisp pages and tape them to the wall.  I did.
I want more to cover the wall, but I ran out.

Home

As I'm still figuring out how to make our place more homey, I already have favorite corners.  This is one of them.

what's your favorite area in your home?

Home

Our move has been a way to start fresh.  I've been feeling more at home, which has allowed me to make it..... Just that.

I'd still like more clocks, and a nice green plant on the left-- it's still a work in progress.

Rock Writing

As most kids do, my Rock collects sticks, pine cones, and rocks (no pun intended).  And as most parents, you never know what to do with them, but throw them away or set them aside somewhere.  I got a great idea from apartmenttherapy (or ohdeedoh) but couldn't find the old post (sorry).  Well, Rock and I began writing on his rock collection and displayed it in a class jar in the kids bathroom.  I'm no artist but we were both pleased with the outcome :)

Still feeling contractions but they're not strong enough, but uncomfortable and not consistent, but has been happening since Saturday afternoon.  Hopefully this little girl will decide to come out, but for now she's unpredictable!

Bunting

Bunting makes things look prettier.  I made this little one for my daughter's room a few months back, and it really adds to the character of the room.  It's easy to do, and not to mention a cheap decor.  Simply cutting triangles (or any shape you'd like), sewing inside out (then reverse once sides are sewed), and then sewing some binding (I used quilt binding, can be found at any craft/sew store)...then whallah!  A cute banner :)
Have a great Good Friday and Easter Sunday!  In case you ever wondered why Jesus Christ dying is important to some, or just want to be more informed in your knowledge of others and religion, here is a short explanation.

Story Corner

As we wait for Story (that will be her name) I've been organizing, decorating, cleaning her little corner.  I'm so excited for her to come out and meet all of us.  I decided to make it more refreshing for her and me, I know she'll be tired, and shocked from her long journey, but I'm sure she'll come around to loving planet Earth :)  I'm not done with her corner yet but I wanted to share in case I didn't get around doing the other stuff because of labor (yikes!).  I also want to share the darling baby shower that was thrown for Story this past Saturday...So cute and lovely!
I made a cover for the pack n' play we used for the other two kiddos, and it makes it look more elegant, I like it, hopefully she does too!

The canopy I got from this site, and it worked perfect!  IKEA curtains + embroidery hoop--easy and cheap.

***Make sure skirt is secure and NOT to be used when child is old enough to use pack n' play with mesh at bottom. This is secure and going to used for a newborn.

Thrifty Finds

One of my thrifty finds on Valentine's Day.  I saw it and immediately loved this colorful tray.  It's now displayed in my kids room (I'll show that on another day :)  This little treasure was just a $1...Amazing!  Don't you just LOVE thrifty finds?

Christmas Time Favorites

Christmas is coming around the corner and I have not set up ALL that I want to, but soon enough, I'll be up and running. Hopefully you are or you will too! A string of cheerios brings a smile to my face. Which kid can't remember making these? :) Super fun! Rock was helping out, but at times was having a bit trouble with the small cheerio holes. Have a great week preparing!

Christmas Time Is Here!

Christmas time really does make people feel gitty, I sure am! We've been decorating and getting some crafting done this year.

The kids loved decorating the tree, and frankly, so did I.
This year, I made stockings for all of us, including the little girlie in my tummy. The front side is made of potato sack material, and the other of various fabric that distinguishes itself from the others. Can't wait to start stuffing our stockings!

Thrifty Finds

Hand held mirrors are just darling. I've purchased a couple from ebay, and I'm always looking for cheap, adorable treasures. I'd love to have a mini wall of beautiful, interesting, hand-held mirrors. I must say, I like mirrors in general.
For some odd reason my household is being plagued with sickness. My son Rock was sick, then my daughter Key, then myself, and now my son Rock again! There really is joy in everything, even when it doesn't seem like it. In everything give thanks (1 Thess5:18).

Maps

I have this fascination, and love for maps and globes--new maps, old maps, foreign maps, local maps, big maps, small maps, etc. I've tried looking for a really big old map (or new, depending how it looks) for a good price, but have not yet stumbled upon that big treasure. I did buy a big map but have not framed it, or figured out how I would, since it's a good size.

I thought I'd decorate Rock's room with various maps (and globes). He does like looking at them. We also thought it would be good for him (and the family) to know the various people around the world. With that said, I started collecting maps a year ago, and I finished framing five of them. I still need a couple more, but I'll see when I can get to that. I like the way they turned out, and amazingly it cost me nothing!  The maps I got for free at AAA (we're members, but not sure if anyone else can walk in and ask), and the frames were old baby wooden frames that Rock outgrew.  I simply cut the map according to the wood block frame, and then pasted it on.  I also want to make a map banner out of the maps (I'll be sure to post latter).
I made some of places we visited, lived, and where we live now. In June, hopefully we can set one up for Seattle! How exciting.

Too Cute and Dainty!

Oh how I LOVE Rice! I even love there music. There things are too cute and adorable. I wish, I could buy it all. It's a Denmark based brand, and oh how dainty :)

That tea table is just too cute.
Love the owl! Great idea, I have so many ideas bursting in my brain from Rice.

Thrifty Finds

Mother Goose...

Once I saw this adorable Mother Goose tray at a Chino thrift store, I had to get it for my daughter's room. Nothing is on her walls, or any decorations, frankly because, I'm trying to collect little treasures for her room. This one would look great on her side of the wall (she shares four walls with her big brother). I believe this tray was purchased for only 99 cents...whatta deal!

What little treasures do you have?

Thrifty Finds- 2nd Treasure (in no particular order)

"Rosie" is her name...

Another of my thrifty finds I got months ago! I got this classic tray for $2.00. I was gonna sell it on my etsy store, but I grew attached to it...I think it's pretty. We'll see if I can depart from it.

Thrifty Finds

Thrift stores are grand! I love them because you never know what you'll find. In high school, and college, I loved this particular one. It literally was down the street from my work & school (at the time), and they had nifty finds every time I went. Til this day, they still don't disappoint. As the saying goes-- one person's junk is another persons treasure. I found this cute little piece, at one of my endeavors a few months ago. This find was from a Chino, CA Goodwill store.
I hope to share, all my little treasures.

Sit Down and Relax

When I ventured into pillows, I got addicted and made three back-to-back. They were so fun to make, and really did a number on our sofa. Super easy to make, and it cost way cheaper then buying from your favorite retailer.
I tried a Martha Stewart technique. It didn't turn out so well, I think because of the thin fabric I used for the white one. Better luck next time.

I got these fabrics from JoAnn's in their custom order section, they were display fabrics, they kind you have to order, but this JoAnn was going out of business so they were selling their fabric squares samples (I think I paid less .99 for each, but these were expensive fabrics). The squares measured approximately 20x20 inches, but worked well for making sofa, or even bedroom pillows. I tried purchasing at another JoAnn's, but she said they don't allow :( Perhaps if there's a going out of business JoAnn's near you, you can purchase their samples and make cute pillows!
