Upcycled Top

Can't remember when I bought this tube top from Forever21, but  I know it was a long time ago.  For some reason I never parted with it.  Now I am grateful I didn't!  I imagined my little Key running around in the sun wearing, a yellow dress, smiling at me :)  So... off I went, measuring and cutting here and there (but not much), and attaching cute, braided straps.  I originally saw braided fabric from my friends darling necklaces.

Still looks a little plain, but not sure if I'll add.  Perhaps a brooch or some flower???

Thanksgiving

I was thankfully able to put something together for my Key, despite my long Christmas gift list, and my list of Christmas decorations awaiting there turn for "the machine of wonders." I'm VERY excited for the turkey and all the fixins! Oh, and I'm equally excited to get our home ready for Christmas! YAY!!!

Where the Wild Things Are

...After Max steps off his private boat tumbled by the ocean, he begins exploring.
Max hears some rustling of leaves...
he turns to see if anyone is following...
someone or something is lurking in the forest...
the unknown wild thing wants to befriend Max.
she begins to follow him
Max sees the wild thing!
So, she roars her terrible roar...
Gnashes her terrible teeth, rolls her terrible eyes, and shows her terrible claws...
But Max says "be still!"
She fears this creature, and declares Max to be the king of the wild things!
Max the king, exclaims "let the wild rumpus start!!!"
...

What a splendid wild rumpus.

Chicken Scratches

Key's new summer dress turned out differently of what I originally intended. Trying to emulate my drawings, that look like chicken scratches, perhaps is not the best way...but either way, it turned out better than I thought! It still has its handful of mistakes, but considering, I was grateful it wasn't a total flop. I love her in the new dress...well, I love her in anything! She was especially sweet while I used her as a model.

Summertime Freshness

I made this dress with very light material. I actually didn't realize how light it was, until I was having some trouble putting it together. After some hassle, it turned out to be a fun dress to be out in the sun with. My little Key looked fresh and wonderful!



The bow in the back, made it especially fun...I guess bows are just fun!

"Take these broken wings and learn to fly..."

My Favorite Beatles' song is Black Bird, and I love Sarah McLachlan's rendition. I was excited to make this little bird skirt for Key. The bird wasn't black (now I wish it were because of the song!), but this song came to mind when I began this entry. Total digression! Sorry... anyways, I attempted a different stitch on the little jean bird, and I think it came out okay... mess ups here and there, but nothing drastic :)

Christmas 08 Dress

I decided for Key's first Christmas (in 2008), I'd make her a special dress. I wanted it to be classy, simple, and colors that were soft rather than the traditional, prominent colors of Christmas. This was the first dress I attempted to make, and there were lots of mess ups, but it prepared me for the future dresses I'd conjured up in my mind. Remember "practice, makes perfect"-- I'm no where near the latter.
