Classical....

I'm excited for classical education.  I truly believe Rock, Key and Story will be better equipped at elementary age, and have a bigger grasp of how to think and how God fits into thinking about history, english, math, etc than I did after graduation!  Dorothy Sayers essay  is SO enlightening.  She helped me solidify this route for our family.  Not because I think we have to be better than others but because I can't confidently give my child over to the public school system or even the Christian school education system, and mainly because of the layout she describes is beneficial for all of life.  I can't go with the public for various reasons, unfortunately the system has been coming off the hinges for decades, some argue it's off the hinges!  As far as the Christian school route, I still don't feel confident leaving my young, eager, sponge child to men or women I know nothing about (that goes for either).  All I know is that they "profess" to be Christian but that can mean SO many things.  MOST importantly God tells me (and all parents), we will have to give an account on how we raise our children, and then he tells believers to teach them His statues as much as we can (when they lie down and wake!).   It is the responsibility of the parent to educate, train, and instruct, SO.... How do I see that happening for our family?  By homeschooling, and homeschooling well, by God's grace.

Over Spilled Milk

I feel so grumpy.  I feel like I would cry over spilled milk (my baby Key does).  God is really showing me my heart as of late, and its been through this nasty heat (I don't like summer or heat).  He has been showing me that I value comfort too much, and if I don't have it, I have a "mad heart" (I use these terms with my kiddies and I totally feel the hypocrisy).  I tell Rock to pray for me because of my "mad heart" towards God.  It's SO ironic how I was SO excited for fall and then a couple of days later we get a heat wave.  I feel my sinfulness and lean on the cross and remember Christ died for yucky Frances who wants to be queen and in control of everything, even the weather.  Thank you Lord for saving me from being a traitor to God and keeping me in God's love because of Christ, and not by ANYTHING I could ever do BUT what he did on the cross-- died in place of repentant sinners, who confess him as Lord over their lives... Amazing!

Book Pages

Everywhere!  I am currently in love with book pages.  If you are too, grab your books and tear off the crisp pages and tape them to the wall.  I did.
I want more to cover the wall, but I ran out.

Blue Velvet

to share...
Made yummy cupcakes for our neighbors.  It was a delight meeting them and showing a little love for them.  These were suppose to be red velvet but I only had blue food coloring :)

Figs

have always been one of my favorite fruits.  They bring back so many memories of me as a child, running around at my grandma's place, being hungry but not wanting to go inside and eat.  So, what would a hungry child do?  Eat as many fruits as you can to suffice the crumbling tummy!  Figs was one of those life savers in time of need.  I'm currently in a little time of need (because of my Shingles), so they're looked at as comfort food.  Thank God for trees that actually produce figs :)
I had to have breakfast alone this morning so I don't spread my virus.  I miss hugging and kissing my kiddos :(

A Sad Day...

because I have Shingles :(  I'm taking the meds for it, but I have to call my doctor Friday to inform her of the any updates.  If rash becomes a certain way then perhaps it's a skin infection.  I'm hoping it is a skin infection BUT later this evening my daughter Key began getting little red dots on her body.  I'm SO sad because IF I do have Shingles then I infected her with chickenpox!  Arrrrggg!!!  I'm trying not to feel like it is all my fault, but I need grace to help us get through this little trial.

Thrifty-Finds

An unexpected find on one of my treasure hunts.  This pretty lady (she remind me of "Gone With the Wind") was only 0.95!  What a steal.
I'd love to hold a giveaway one day (for the two who read my blog :) with a thrifty find that I don't need but love.  That would be so fun.

Hel Mel

A few weeks ago I entered the world of Hel Mel, which is literally a few steps away from our place.  An exciting, new, up-and-coming, hipster neighborhood is just grand, BUT not as grand as the original Hel Mel (Helen & Melody).  These two are just a bunch of love and encouragement all rolled into one!  It was a fun night out in Pasadena a few weeks ago with these ladies.
yummy food that had us sharing.
Memorable, encouraging times.  Let's do it again!

Thrifty-Finds (Reading is Fun)

Books are just great and you can't have too many.  I periodically go through my kids toy boxes and clean it up, throw away nonsense, and give away excess, but I rarely, if ever, give away or get rid of books!

"Cinderella" and "Little Red Riding Hood" I bought in Seattle, and "Spelling Goals" was given to us by my sassy friend from her excursion down south (thank you so! :)

Rain,
Come soon so we can cuddle up on our couch, read, and hear your droplets.

Love,
Tibayans
